Privacy Policy for Foto

This Privacy Policy explains how Foto ("Foto", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Foto mobile application.

Foto is a photo editing application that allows users to edit images, save drafts, and, where enabled, synchronize their account-related data and saved drafts using cloud services.

By using Foto, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, Foto may process the following information:

Account Information

When you create an account or sign in using email and password authentication, Foto processes:

• Email address
• Firebase user account identifier
• Authentication-related information necessary to maintain your account and sign you in

Foto does not receive or store your password in its own database. Password authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication.

Photos and Images

Foto allows you to select images from your device for photo editing.

When you use editing features, the app may access images that you choose through the device's photo/media storage or system file picker.

Images selected for editing are used to provide the editing functionality you request.

Saved Drafts and Cloud Data

If you use Foto's cloud saving or synchronization features, information associated with your saved drafts may be uploaded to and stored using Firebase services.

Depending on the features you use, this may include:

• Saved photo-editing drafts
• Images or image files associated with saved drafts
• Draft metadata
• Account/user identifier associated with the saved data

Cloud-stored drafts are used to allow you to access your saved work and related data across supported sessions or devices.

2. How We Use Information

We use information processed by Foto for the following purposes:

• Creating and managing user accounts
• Signing users in and maintaining authentication sessions
• Providing photo editing functionality
• Saving and restoring user drafts
• Synchronizing supported user data through cloud services
• Providing access to a user's saved content
• Maintaining and securing the application
• Responding to user support requests
• Detecting, preventing, or investigating misuse of the application where reasonably necessary

We do not use your photos or saved drafts for advertising purposes unless this Privacy Policy is updated to describe such use.

3. Firebase Services

Foto uses Firebase services provided by Google LLC, including:

• Firebase Authentication for account registration and sign-in
• Cloud Firestore for storing application data and draft-related information
• Firebase Storage for storing files or images associated with supported cloud-saving features

These services may process information on our behalf to provide the functionality described above.

Firebase and Google may process information in accordance with their own terms and privacy practices.

4. Photo and Media Access

Foto may request access to photos or media on your device when you choose an image to edit or otherwise use a photo-related feature.

We only request access necessary to provide the relevant functionality.

Foto does not use your device's photo library to collect unrelated personal information.

If you choose to save a draft using cloud functionality, the relevant draft data and/or image files may be transmitted to our configured Firebase services for storage and retrieval.

5. Camera Access

Foto does not require camera access for its current functionality.

If camera functionality is added in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary.

6. Local Storage

Some application data may be stored locally on your device to support application functionality, including temporary or locally saved editing information.

Local storage may be used to improve the editing experience and allow the application to function without continuously communicating with our cloud services.

7. Cloud Storage and Data Synchronization

When you use features that save drafts or related content to the cloud, the relevant information is transmitted to Firebase services.

Cloud data may be associated with your Firebase user account so that your saved content can be identified and retrieved for you.

If you do not use cloud-saving or synchronization features, the associated content may remain only on your device, subject to the app's normal local storage behavior.

8. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share or disclose information only as necessary to:

• Provide the functionality of Foto
• Operate Firebase services used by Foto
• Protect the security and integrity of the application
• Comply with applicable laws, legal processes, or lawful requests
• Protect our rights, users, or the public where legally permitted

Third-party service providers, including Firebase/Google, may process information on our behalf to provide the services described in this Privacy Policy.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed through Foto.

Data transmitted between the application and Firebase services is protected using appropriate security measures provided by the underlying services.

Access to cloud data is controlled through application and Firebase security rules intended to restrict users from accessing other users' account data.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Data Retention

We retain account and cloud-stored information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Foto's services and maintain your account.

Cloud drafts and associated files may remain stored while your account remains active unless you delete them through available application functionality.

When an account deletion request is completed, we will delete the account and associated user data that we control, subject to any data that we are legally required or otherwise permitted to retain.

Some information may remain temporarily in backups or system logs for a limited period before being removed through normal backup and retention processes.

11. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Foto account and associated personal data.

Foto provides an account deletion mechanism within the application. Users may also request account deletion through the external account-deletion method provided for Foto.

When an account deletion request is completed, we will delete or arrange for deletion of the user's associated account information and cloud-stored user data that is within our control, subject to legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or other lawful retention requirements.

12. Children's Privacy

Foto is not specifically directed toward children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable laws.

13. Third-Party Services

Foto uses third-party services necessary to provide certain application functionality.

These currently include Firebase services provided by Google, such as Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage.

Third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Depending on the features available in the application, you may be able to:

• Access and use your account
• Edit or delete available saved drafts
• Choose whether to use cloud-saving functionality
• Request deletion of your account and associated data

You can also control device-level permissions, such as photo/media access, through your device settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy when our application, services, or data practices change.

When changes are made, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
